How To Clean Wood Panelling

Blog |

Timber has long been used in New Zealand homes to add warmth and texture to interiors. Who doesn’t love the classic style and elegance of a wooden floor? Natural, durable and easy to maintain. We not only offer sustainably sourced engineered timber flooring, but panelling too. Wood panelling is the premium way for you to turn plain walls into statement pieces and transform your home into a cosy haven of luxurious living. Cleaning wooden floors is often a simple process of sweeping and mopping, but how would one go about cleaning wood panelling? We’ve created an easy-to-follow guide to help you when cleaning your new Forté wood panelling.

How To Clean

Wood Panelling looks great on the feature wall of your bedroom or living room covering your fireplace or used on your ceilings to create a unique point of focal point. Here is a step-by-step guide to cleaning panelling.

  1. Dust the wood panelling first if it has been a long time since its last clean.
  2. Mix warm water and wood floor cleaner in a clean bucket, as per the directions of your cleaner bottle.
  3. Using a high-quality microfibre cloth, dip into the water mixture and wring out.
  4. Give each panel of the wood a good rub, making sure to not leave behind any excess liquid.
  5. Allow the walls to air dry by opening your windows so the room doesn’t retain any moisture.

Products To Use

  1. Bona Microfiber Dusting Pad: Use this on wood panelling to remove hair and dust before wet-cleaning panels.
  2. Bona Wood Floor Cleaner: With its non-streaking formula, Bona Wood Floor cleaner can be used on wood panelling as effectively as on flooring. It is made for polyurethane, lacquer or hard-waxed wood.
  3. Bona Microfiber Cleaning Pad: A gentle cleaning item that is machine washable.

Please note: these cleaning instructions do not apply to our Imondi panelling Collection as they are prefinished with a natural oil and require an alternative cleaning process. Enquire with our Forte Customer Care team for more information.
