Preparing for your Forté Showroom Visit
September 24, 2020
DECIDE WHAT FEELING YOU WANT TO CREATE
It is very helpful if you come to your initial appointment with an idea of the type of feeling you want to create in your interior. You are welcome to bring along any imagery that shows what you have in mind - whether it be a moodboard you have made, images you have torn out of magazines, or your Pinterest or Houzz.com moodboard.
GET AN IDEA OF YOUR BUDGET
It is a good idea to do some homework beforehand on your budget - even if it is just a rough figure. This will help us find the best product suited to your budget. Our pricing usually excludes installation, although we can provide approximate installation costs so you know what to expect.
CONSIDER YOUR FLOOR HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Most houses and buildings have the heights set up to accommodate flooring of a certain thickness. For example, a set distance has been allowed between the subfloor and the bottom of your internal doors for your floor coverings. Find out more by reading our article on Flooring Height Requirements.
CALCULATE YOUR TIMEFRAME
Work out when you require your flooring (you may need to consult your builder about this). Although we hold stock of the majority of our products in NZ, some of our products may be unavailable due to high demand. Also some clients choose flooring options that are not stocked in NZ, which can have a lead time of 12-16 weeks from purchase to delivery.
LIST YOUR PRIORITIES & REQUIREMENTS
This is an important part of the process, as it will help us to find the best options for you. For example, your priority could be budget, or it might be quality, durability, or a certain look or style - or all of these but in a specific order. We also need to know any specific requirements, such as timeframe, if you need under floor heating compatible flooring, if you require a specific thickness or if you need flooring that can be floated rather than glued down.
FLOOR PLANS
It is a good idea to bring along your floor plans (or email to us beforehand). Some of our product prices are based on quantity (the larger the project, the better the rate you get) - so knowing the size of your project will help us work out the best price for you.
SWATCHES & SAMPLES
You are welcome to bring along any swatches or samples that you have decided to use for your project as these can be helpful in narrowing down the right product for you. For example this might include paint colours, tiles, carpet, stone to name a few.
MORE THAN FLOORING?
Many of our clients set out to choose only timber flooring, then fall in love with another product that they see in our showroom. You may like to consider where else you could use timber in your project, as timber can inject a lot of character into a space and really help it to feel like a home - this is especially helpful for new builds. Timber flooring planks (as well as our wall-specific products) can be used for feature walls, ceiling panelling and more. We have seen clients use our product in in entry-ways, living spaces, kitchens, bedrooms, media rooms, home gyms and much more! Don't forget that we also supply premium Millboard decking, and have great selection timber flooring / decking colour matches (we are the only supplier in NZ that offers this). Check out our projects gallery for inspiration!
