Designed by architect Evelyn McNamara for her own family, this single-level Kumeū home proves that restraint and resolution can deliver genuine warmth on a modest budget.

Set on a corner site at the edge of Riverhead Forest, the house is defined by a sculptural roofline, a careful layering of natural materials, and interior touches that feel both relaxed and refined.

Throughout the main living spaces, Forté Moda flooring in Isola grounds the interior with enticing warmth and classic appeal — its rich chestnut brown tones complementing the dark-stained oak cabinetry, wide-span glazing, and the green landscape beyond. It's a floor that doesn't announce itself too loudly, but holds the room together confidently.

A reminder that thoughtful material choices are often what make the difference between a house and a home.

Isola features a rich chestnut-brown hue that captures the warmth of sunlit wood and the depth of earthy tones.
