Environmental Benefits of Timber Flooring

Engineered timber can have several environmental benefits if it is produced using sustainable methods and is used in an environmentally conscious way.

One of the biggest environmental benefits of using engineered wood flooring in your home is that engineered timber only uses approximately one third of the amount of solid hardwood resource, compared to solid timber of the same dimensions, as only the wear layer/veneer is made of solid hardwood timber.

Other factors that make engineered wood environmentally friendly include their low VOC emissions, long lifespan and the fact that the wood can be recycled or repurposed once it has reached the end of its lifespan.

A copy of our Wood Sourcing Policy, which includes FSC & PEFC, is available on request.
